Dot Day
Today we read the book The Dot by Peter H Reynolds and then we created our own dot art. We invited Mrs. Bailey's class to join us in our dot fun. We had a great time making dot art. Some of us even saved our dot pictures on our blogs.![]() |

Morning Math
This year we are trying math activities in the morning. Each table group is given a different math task. Ms. Leech got the ideas for these wonderful activities from Carole Fullerton and Sandra Ball. We like exploring and learning different ways to do math.

Read to Self
This week we have been working on one part of the Daily Five called Read to Self. We have been building our reading stamina. When we read to self we need to stay in one spot and read the whole time. We have learned that there are three ways to read a book. We can read the words, read the pictures or re tell the story. Today we read for 10 minutes. We really enjoyed reading our books.

Geometry Stations
Last week we had a great time trying different activities that focused on 2D shapes and 3D solids. We built the shapes with geo boards and then copied them onto dot paper. We explored with tangrams. We created our own shape riddles on our white boards and then had our friends figure our riddles out. We sorted shapes by attributes. We figured out which solids can roll and which can slide. We built towers. We traced the 3D solids and labelled their faces. We figured out that a cylinder has two circle faces. We used the iPads to make pic collages of 3D solids that we found in our environment. What did you learn about the shapes?

Virtual Field Trip
Today we tried Discovery Education's Virtual Field Trip live from JN Ding Darling National Wildlife Center. We listened to different people talk about the different things at the Wildlife Centre. We saw a Mangrove Tree Crab. We learned about how mangroves grow in the coastal waters. We saw different types of shell animals that live on the Florida Coast. The refuge is located on island of Sanibel. When we go on our beach trip we will make observations about the animals that live in our Pacific Ocean. Some of us used our white boards to write notes about what we heard. Some of us also wrote questions on our boards. The virtual field trip was over before we knew it. We will look for another virtual field trip.
